Why do you call your system 3PU Coaching?

Back in 2002, I was going through a difficult time.  In fact, the whole country was reeling from the 9/11 tragedy.   I was watching a New Year's talk show with Larry King.  He had Tony Robbins on with some other guests. Each of them was giving advice to our somber country about how to deal with such pain.  Tony's advice stuck with me.

“Take control of your body first, because when you take control of your body, the mind and emotion respond.”

I got myself back to the gym and my world started falling into place.  And now, as a personal trainer for over 17 years, I see this truth first hand - eating well and taking care of yourself leads to an empowered life. This commitment to discipline and self care builds character (power) and in turn overflows into your relationships (passion) as well as your spiritual journey (purpose).   My journey started at the gym and has brought me to this very page you are reading.  I believe that physical empowerment is the first step to taking control of your life.  The rest will follow.  Power. Passion. Purpose. U.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy deals mostly with the person's past and/or trauma and seeks healing.  Coaching deals mostly with the person's present and seeks to guide them to a more optimistic future.

Therapists have the answers.  Coaches co-create with their clients and help the client discover their own answers by using their personal strengths and resources.

Therapists diagnose a problem and then provide professional expertise and guidelines to give clients a path towards healing.  Coaches help clients identify challenges and then work together to turn these challenges into victories, holding the client accountable for lasting results.

How does coaching work?

When we first meet, we will identify your goals.  I will ask you a lot of questions.  We will brainstorm options and identify strengths and resources.  Together, we will devise a plan to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
